Actor Amanda Peet revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent double mastectomy in an exclusive interview with Extra's Billy Bush, published March 25, 2026. Peet, who was 51 at the time, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in October 2023 after a routine 3D mammogram. Her mother's prior breast cancer made Peet high-risk, leading to her regular screenings.

Following her diagnosis, Peet underwent a double mastectomy and has been cancer-free for two years. She initially felt 'completely isolated' by the experience and considered not telling her children about her condition. Peet emphasized the importance of 3D mammograms, which detected her tumor, stating she had 'no symptoms' before the screening.

Peet shared her story in hopes of helping others and fostering a community for those affected by breast cancer. She is an ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer, an organization she supports, and hopes her advocacy encourages more people to get screened. 'It's a way for me to not feel so completely isolated,' Peet said about sharing her experience.
