Former CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota revealed her diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma, a type of breast cancer, in November 2023. She discovered the cancer through a routine mammogram, despite experiencing no symptoms prior to the screening.
Following her diagnosis, Camerota underwent a double mastectomy as part of her treatment. She is now publicly sharing her experience to advocate for women's health, specifically urging them to prioritize regular mammograms for early detection.
Camerota's motivation stems from her personal experience with early detection saving her life and the loss of her mother to ovarian cancer at age 58. She emphasizes that mammograms are crucial for identifying breast cancer before symptoms appear, enabling timely intervention and better outcomes.
